What Are Semi Permanent Hair Extensions?
Semi permanent hair extensions are individual strands of human hair attached directly to small sections of your own hair, close to the root. Depending on the method, they're held with a keratin bond or a micro ring. Once fitted, they stay put through washing, sleeping and styling for roughly six to eight weeks, at which point they're moved back up as your hair grows.
The word "permanent" is misleading, which is why you'll see both terms used. Nothing here is permanent — the extensions are removed or repositioned periodically, and the hair itself can be reused for a long time if it's good quality.
The trade-off against clip-ins is simple. Clip-ins take a minute and cost less. Permanent hair extensions take a salon appointment and cost more, but you wake up with the length already there.
The Three Bond Types Explained
I-tip hair extensions — I-Tip (Natural Black) Straight, stick-shaped tips fitted with a micro ring clamped around the strand and your natural hair. No heat, no glue — which makes I-tips the gentlest of the three and the usual recommendation for finer hair. Also available in natural brown.
U-tip hair extensions — U-Tip (Natural Black) A U-shaped keratin bond that's warmed and fused around your natural hair. This is the hot-fusion method, and it gives the longest wear of the three. Requires a professional for both fitting and removal. Also in natural brown.
Flat-tip hair extensions — Flat-Tip (Natural Black) Similar to I-tip but with a flattened bond that sits flush against the head. If you've worn micro rings before and found you could feel them, flat-tips are noticeably more comfortable to sleep on. Also in natural brown.
How They're Fitted
This is not a DIY product, and any brand that tells you otherwise is being careless with your hair.
Fitting is done section by section at a salon and typically takes two to four hours for a full head, less for partial coverage. The stylist works in rows from the nape upward, matching shade and blending as they go. I-tips are clamped with pliers; U-tips and flat-tips are bonded with a heat connector.
Every six to eight weeks you go back for a move-up: the bonds are released, your natural hair is combed out, and the same extensions are refitted closer to the root. Skipping this is the single most common cause of matting and breakage.

Will Semi Permanent Extensions Damage My Hair?
Fitted correctly and maintained on schedule, no. Damage from strand extensions almost always traces back to one of four things:
- Bonds fitted too tight or too close to the scalp — causes tension and, over time, traction damage at the root
- Move-ups skipped — the bond travels down as hair grows, and loose extensions tangle with shed hair
- Too much weight for the hair — fine hair can't carry a full head of thick extensions
- Oil or conditioner on the roots — weakens keratin bonds and causes micro rings to slip

Semi Permanent vs Clip-In Extensions
Choose semi permanent hair extensions if you want length you don't think about, you wear extensions most days, and you're willing to build in salon visits.
Choose clip-ins if you want extensions for occasions, you'd rather not commit to appointments, or you're testing whether you like the length at all. Our volumizers and ponytail extensions cover that.

What Affects the Cost
Three variables, and they're worth understanding before you compare quotes:
Quantity. Priced by weight or strand count. Partial coverage for length at the back costs a fraction of a full head.
Hair quality. Remy human hair with aligned cuticles costs more than non-Remy, and lasts several times longer. Cheap extensions that tangle after two washes are the most expensive option in the end.
Salon fitting. Charged separately by your stylist, along with each move-up. Factor that into the total, not just the hair.

Aftercare
- Sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner only
- Wash in lukewarm water, never hot — heat weakens keratin bonds
- Conditioner on mid-lengths and ends, never at the roots
- Use a loop brush or soft-bristle brush, working from the ends up
- Braid loosely before sleeping, and use a satin pillowcase
- Never sleep on wet hair
- No oil near the bonds
- Book your move-up before you leave the salon

2. Can I fit them myself?

In India the terms are used for the same thing. Neither is truly permanent — both are removed or repositioned periodically.
4. Which is best for thin hair?
I-tip, because micro rings use no heat or adhesive and put less stress on the strand. Keep the quantity conservative too — weight matters more than method on fine hair.
5. Can I wash and swim normally?
Yes. Wash as described above. Rinse with fresh water after chlorine or salt water and don't let hair dry tangled.
6. Can I colour or heat style them?
They're human hair, so yes to heat with a protectant. For colour, have a stylist do it and keep dye away from the bonds.
7. Does removal damage my hair?
Not when done properly. Micro rings are opened with pliers; keratin bonds are dissolved with a remover solution. Neither should involve pulling.
8. Do you have shades other than black and brown?
